Let it be known that the Temple of Nuit offers an updated perspective on the two essential elements of conscious identity development in our Order:

  • reading list and
  • personalized approach.

Updated reading list

An inspired seeker can find real gems and precious stones in the Holy Books of Thelema. Also, the inner structure of the grade work in the initiation system is quite clear, straightforward, and priceless, especially around the higher grades (Lover grade and beyond), where the Great Work becomes exceedingly abstract.

On the other hand, the student reading list is outdated, and while we honor tradition, we do not follow it mindlessly.

The influence of the synergies of the New Aeon has been brought upon many areas of human development. Modern times bring different perspectives, and not even Master Therion could foresee all the possibilities (for example, works on Authenticity and Transpersonal psychology, dissemination of the Secret Mantra (or Vajrayana) teachings, availability of the original Kabbalah, etc. –  none of which were available during the life of Master Therion).

We are certain that our updated lists will be outdated eventually. Impermanence is a natural state of things on this Earth.

And so, our first update encompasses new volumes of quality works penned by experienced people. We bring in authors like Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, John Rowan, Ken Wilber, etc., and highly realized individuals like Paramhansa Ramakrishna, Ramana Maharshi, Anandamayi Ma, and the Mahasiddhas and Tantric Masters Jetsun Milarepa, Maitripa, Padmasambhava, Tilopa, etc., and study material from kindred systems like Tantra, Vaishnava Bhakti Yoga, authentic Kabbalah, Vajrayana, Mahamudra, and Dzogchen.

We updated the basic reading list (focusing more on the basic understanding of the human mind, critical thinking, and integral vision), added a few new volumes to the reading list for the Adepts, and expanded reading material for those who have won the Ordeal x or have taken the Oath of the Abyss.

We aim to raise our students’ awareness and broaden their horizons, not to distract them. Anyone can stick to the established and traditional reading list and absorb all the notions from around one century ago, ignoring new information available to us (the new translation of the Book of Abramelin puts the Mathers’ one where it belongs, on the top shelf out of sight and reach, for example).

Everyone else is welcome to dig deeper and discover the value of some of the added works (for example, the development of humanistic psychology with its focus on Authenticity can provide a student with information to avoid common pitfalls on the spiritual path; the newest, 4th force in psychology, the transpersonal psychology, surpasses Freud and his analytical approach and paints an entirely new picture; the study of Original Kabbalah and its teachings can quicken the grade work, etc.).

The whole A∴A∴ curriculum has been uploaded to our website; all information, oaths, tasks, prescribed Thelema Libri, and additional texts – everything is online (apart from various copyrighted texts) and available to the members of our group on a modern, intuitive and easy to use Learning Management System.

Personalized approach

We do not condone dogmatic and narrow-minded systems that ignore individual Will, for each of us, has a subjective rhythm, diverse past experiences, and unique inner tendencies.

Nowadays, a lot of people are well-informed, educated, and already in possession of spiritual experiences. Why push them down into outdated notions that might have already been outgrown?

We put our students in the center where they belong. While adhering to the gradual progress outlined in our Holy books, we acknowledge that the responsibility for the development of our students lies in their hands.

We encourage our students to be creative, inventive and engaged in the Grade Work as much as possible. This might denote that certain aspects of Grades might not be wholly embraced. Some students are more predisposed to mystical aspects of the Great Work, while others enjoy magickal practices.

Each accepted student is looked at very closely, and while honoring the Grade work and the overall Initiatory system, each path is personalized and thus more efficient and much quicker.

We do not initiate our students into any given Grade of the Order A∴A∴. Progress through the Grades is a matter of subjective and thorough self-exploration and an intimate affair between individual students and the Sempiternal Order A∴A∴.

In the spirit of an updated perspective and personalized approach, we also bring in an option to learn Kriya yoga as an important part of the Zelator grade. Why only study pranayama when one can learn and practice one of the most efficient methods available?

At the Practicus grade, we encourage our students to delve into the authentic and genuine teachings of Kabbalah (which were purposely hidden throughout the centuries and have been available to the general public since 1995). 

To those about to or who have already crossed the Abyss and have stabilized at the City of Pyramids, we offer empowerments (not A∴A∴ Grades initiations) into specific Diamond Vehicle or the ‘nondual tantra’ practices (certain conditions apply).
